- Place a compost bin or compost heap near your vegetable garden and kitchen.

- Prepare the space with a bottom layer of manure and dry wood before adding the first layer of organic matter.

- Alternate between dry and wet layers, and remember to mix the material to let it breathe.

- After around 6 month check, the bottom layer, to see if it is ready to use as compost for your garden.

How do I make good home compost?
Follow Mother Nature's way of recycling organic matter.
- Place a compost bin directly on the soil and keep unwanted visitors out by putting some poultry netting around the base.
- Every so often, mix the outside ingredients into mixture to speed up the process. Always place the cover over the bin to keep the rain out.
- After 6 months, check on your mixture. If it's brown, crumbly, and smells sweet, the process is complete.
